La máxima autoridad católica en Tierra Santa, el patriarca latino Pierbattista Pizzaballa, bendijo y rezó por Jerusalén, después de que la Policía israelí no le dejara oficiar una misa en el Santo Sepulcro con motivo del Domingo de Ramos. "Hoy Jesús llora una vez más por Jerusalén. Llora por esta ciudad, que sigue siendo signo de esperanza y dolor, de gracia y sufrimiento. Llora por esta Tierra Santa, aún incapaz de reconocer el don de la paz", dijo Pizzaballa alzando una reliquia de la Santa Cruz en la Basílica de Getsemaní, al pie del Monte de los Olivos.
